The Energy of Intention
Volume 1, Issue 12

Sometimes a concept becomes so familiar that it feels like second nature. That is exactly what has happened to me concerning the concept of “intention.”

Several readers have written to ask a variation of this question: “You say, ‘just intend it’ all the time. But how, exactly, do I go about doing that?”

For you, here are the four Big Ideas about the Energy of Intention.

1. There are few things more powerful than Pure Intention. Science has shown how the intentions of focused people in one city can have a measurable impact on the chemistry of plant life in a laboratory, hundreds of miles away. Check out Lynne McTaggart‘s “The Intention Experiment” for the studies that show you that pure thought, directed toward a specific outcome, can actually deliver that outcome.

Of course, you don’t need science to make the point for you. I included that reference for the skeptical among you. If you work out, you know the power of intention: You intend to get through three sets of 12 reps lifting weights…and you do. But add a 13th rep to that last set, and the weight becomes unliftable.
That’s intention at work.

Want to be part of a world-wide experiment to test the power of intention?

Lynne McTaggart and some others have created a project you can help with. You need to sign up by September 13, 2008 to be an official part of the study.

You can participate, even if you don’t sign up officially. It will take about twenty minutes of your time, for each of seven days. I’ll report the results on my website. I’ve signed up! I hope you’ll join me.

2. You might have to recalibrate your early training about the power of intention versus action. Many people were taught something along the lines of “It’s not enough to have good intentions, you have to take action.” Fair enough.

What they didn’t tell you was that deliberately setting an intention is the first step, and it counts as an action. It focuses action on both the physical and the energetic plane. So don’t discount the VALUE of Pure Intention. It is the place from where all actions are launched.

3. You already have all the tools you need to put the energy of Intention to work, deliberately and productively.

Harness the Energy Around You!

It’s as easy as forming a clear picture of what you want and sending that picture into the energy field around you, with the INTENTION that the picture become manifest in the physical world. Picture it, focus on your intent to create it, and release it. Done.

That’s the easy part.

The harder part comes when you forget that intention actually works. Or when you believe that it may have worked before but somehow the laws of quantum physics won’t apply to you this time. This is when people end up sending the intention, “Prove to me that this won’t work.”

When you have competing intentions, the results can also get fuzzy.

Say your intention is “to lose weight.” When you set that intention, you have an easier time exercising and eating more sensibly. If you have the competing intention, “to feel comforted” you may find yourself reaching for the potatoes because that is something that soothes you.

There are lots of ways to iron out competing intentions, though the methods that work best fall into the realm of energy psychology.

Energy psychology helps people weed out barriers of thought, belief, memory and behavior, so that all parts of you can align with the same intention. You can go to my website to find a list of resources that can teach you more about this ground-breaking field.

4. Some intentions work better than others. Specificity helps – but it also can impose limits to outcome which you may not want. Many energy practitioners urge their clients to intend the specific outcome they want, and then add, “Or better…” to the end. That sets a more expansive intention, and allows more good to come to you.

Now, if you are reading this, saying, “How could things be this simple? This is nutty,” know that you are creating that reality. Maybe you could try this instead. Intend: “I want noticeable evidence that this Intention Stuff works for me, and I’ll take it in whatever form it presents itself.”

If you are on the fence, wondering whether what works for others could work for you, here is your experiment. Tell your subconscious to give you a number, between zero and ten, which equates to how much you believe you can use the Energy of Intention in your life. Zero obviously would mean, “I don’t buy it at all,” and ten would be “I am so down with this idea I shouldn’t even be asking the question.” Keep track of the number.

Now INTEND that when you think or say the word “Okay,” your subconscious will immediately and faithfully clear away any conscious or unconscious barriers to the belief that you can access the same Energy of Intention that I am writing about here. Say, “Okay.”

Rate yourself again. Your number should get higher. And you may even have felt, on a physical level, a shift which indicates that the energy of doubt left your field. Cool, huh?

Now intend that when you next say “Okay” that your subconscious hold on to the Energy of Intention permanently, unless and until you tell it otherwise. Say “Okay” again. Maybe you felt another shift. Did you?

If you are someone who understands and accepts the power behind the Energy of Intention, let this newsletter be your reminder of a major tool you may have forgotten you own. Get it out now, and use it to make something good happen for yourself.

I’m going to launch my own intention into the field of the readers of this newsletter. And here it is: I INTEND that anyone who wants to make use of the Energy of Intention be able to do so, easily and quickly.
